Beauty Sample Boxes

Beauty Sample Boxes are currently a massive worldwide trend, it seems like everyone is signed up to at least 1! Here's the forum for you to share the spoils of your latest Beauty Sample Box.

The most recent sample box to

The most recent sample box to cross my desk is the Glossybox for Men.

This is a quarterly subscription, as opposed to a monthly subscription, and sadly there's no makeup - obviously, because it's targeted at the male population!

In this box I (well, my husband) received:

  • Full Sized TIGI Bed Head for men "Power Play" Firm Finish Gel (200ml)
  • Full Sized? Nude by Nature Nude Oil (60ml)
  • Sample size Nivea Sensitive Shaving Gel (50ml)
  • Sample size Biotherm Homme Aquapower Facial Moisturiser (20ml)
  • Sample size Nivea for Men Sensitive Moisturiser (15ml)
  • Sample size Auscreen Everyday Lotion (15ml)
  • 2 sample vials of Calvin Klein ckfree for men
  • A Fred brand mini squeegee? to clean his shaving mirror.

I think he was pretty happy with it.

I'd be interested to see what

I'd be interested to see what the next box contains, but that won't be for some time, I can see why it should be quaterly but I also wonder if most men who would subscribe to this would want it more often.  However, if they keep it quaterly there should be no problem maintain a high quality.
I'm personally looking forward to my Valentine's Glossybox because of all the hype...and because I think this will be when I make my decision about what stays and what goes by way of subscriptions.  One month my Glossybox had NO makeup in it, utter disapointment. Also, what happened to the glossy dots you were meant to recieve from the transfer from Beauty Box to Glossybox? I e-mailed them, I never heard back.

I think the Valentines box

I think the Valentines box should be interesting too, although I hope it's not all body products - I'm really only interested in makeup and nails.

I'm not sure about the glossydots. I never got beauty box so it wasn't a problem for me. The girls there are all really lovely though - maybe now they have all settled into their roles you should email them again?

I prefer the makeup too, I

I prefer the makeup too, I just saw a picture on Twitter of the box contents and one of them was a lip balm I got in my makeupless box 2 months ago... We'll see, living in woop woop I always get mine last, means I can see everyone elses!

My Valentines box arrived

My Valentines box arrived today:

Valentines Glossybox

It contained:

  • Sample size of Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash (I won't use this, I have very dry skin).
  • Face of Australia Mineral Lip Shine in Beach House (I have a few of these and I really like them, but I don't have this colour so yay!)
  • Langlois Natural Lip Balm (Never heard of it before, so no comment yet)
  • Star and Rose Emergency Nail Files (cute, but I won't go near my nails with an emery board - glass files FTW)
  • Polished London Nail Polish in Waitress (A blood red creme. I've never heard of this brand, but it's a nice if very dupeable colour. I wonder if the naming was inspired by OPI's I'm not really a waitress?)

Not my favourite glossybox ever, but I'll stick with it for a while longer.

Cancelled my GlossyBox

Cancelled my GlossyBox
I received mine at 10 am and promptly cancelled after opening it. After all the hype, what a disappointment:

  • I specified dry, ageing skin on my profile, so why proactiv?
  • I got lip gloss last month, lip gloss again this month.
  • Then lip balm. No I do not have dry lips, dry skin, not dry lips.
  • I like glass files too.
  • I'll pass on the shower gel.

What a shame! It sucks when

What a shame! It sucks when you know you have a parcel to look forward to, then when it arrives it's a dud :(

Today my ilovethisbox,

Today my ilovethisbox, February box came in the mail! it was a 'Valentine's Day' themed box that contained a few full size products!

  • Elizabeth Arden-Red Door 10ml- I'm not a fan of Red Door, as I'm more into fruity or fruity/floral perfumes. But I thought the bottle was cute and at 10ml it was more of a 'miniature' than a sample!
  • Keratinology by Sunsilk- overnight treatment 100ml full size- I haven't used a leave-in treatment for years, but I'll give this one a go
  • Nail File- I thought this was a cute touch and I am always looking for nail files around the house haha
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Kiss and Stay lip gloss-8ml full size-This was the product I was most excited about! one end is a long wearing lip gloss and the other end is a sheer shimmer gloss to put over the top. I was disapointed that you aren't able to buy this product in Australia at all :(
  • The Aromatherapy Co.- Rose and Patchuli Hand and nail cream 100ml Full Size- I like the smell of this, but depending on how strong it is when i use it I may just end up giving it to my mum.

the las thing, that was just a little bit extra, was a pack of red jelly beans. Yum

I was pretty impressed with this months box, 3 full size products (not including the nail file of course). The only thing that I know I will not use is the red door perfume.

The Red Door bottle does look very cute - I'm a sucker for miniatures. But I know I would never wear it.... not my style.

Cool because I have already

Cool because I have already cancelled 'lust have it' i never really forgave them for the tampons... Glossybox is hanigng in by a thread, but the Ilovethisbox is deffo my fave of the month.  I'm tempted to swap to Bella Box just to see...

Lizzi | Makeup Utopia Contributor | makeupandsmellthecoffee.blogspot.com.au

I think a lot of people

I think a lot of people cancelled after the tampon incident... I personally will most likely cancel all my subscriptions. Not because I think they're a bad idea, purely because I don't really need to add to my collection....

I've received both the

I've received both the Valentine's Edition of the GlossyBox and the first Beauty Basket.
I've also read a lot of reviews/posts about the Beauty Sample Boxes and it's definitely hit/miss with these boxes. Sometimes, there's 1 or 2 great products. But other times, it's like they reached into the bargain bin and thrown it all together.

I agree, they can be very hit

I agree, they can be very hit and miss. I think part of the problem is that Australia doesn't do samples the way the rest of the world seems to, so the products we have access to in sample form are far more restricted. Combining this with the ability for us to see what other countries are receiving in their boxes, and I think Aussies are always going to feel a little ripped off.

I totally agree re: the hit

I totally agree re: the hit and miss...I was pretty disapointed with Dec 2011 ilovethisbox, but liked their Jan and Feb boxes.
Still waiting on my BellaBox :( I haven't even received a tracking number yet. Not impressed with them so far in terms of customer service. Whereas ilovethisbox seem to have the best customer service out of all the beauty sample boxes in Australia!

Bella Box February

Bella Box February
I cancelled another box cos it was underwhelming. I'd rather spend my $15 on a product that I'm excited to try.

I think I'd be disappointed

I think I'd be disappointed with those products too.

The box hype has recently

The box hype has recently landed in HK too...but after glossybox launched the january and february box, they decided to terminate their operation in HK until furthur notice due to many negative critics. When I heard about it i was like...WTF?! (excuse me.) I understand it is fustrating when the market does not respond positively, but for gods sake, no business runs without making a few mistakes on the way. and glossybox decided to just LEAVE the market. seriously. what is going on here?! i don't think i'll be emerged into the box trend until it really settled down and started growing in HK...

Love and lipsticks, Keely

That does sound strange. You

That does sound strange. You would think that they would have done enough market research before launch to know if it would work!

It wasn't too bad, but I wasn't as impressed with it as I was with the ilovethisbox, box. Their Feb box seemed to be the one that most fit the Valentines day theme.
The body shimmer had quite large specks of glitter in it (not my idea of 'shimmer'), I'm not really a fan of organic products, mostly because of their smell, some can be 'herb' smelling. Loved the hand and nail cream, that smells great! and love the eyeshadow...even though I wouldn't have thought them to be 'Valentines' shades, they're quite pigmented. I think I might end up putting the soap confetti rose in one of my drawers.
