If you’ve read my recent interview with the lovely Danielle from Danimezza, you’ll know that her favourite drugstore beauty products are the CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balms. I hadn’t tried them, but was intrigued. As luck would have it, I was contacted by CoverGirl Australia and asked if I would be interested in reviewing them.
I was sent 4 shades to review – 215 Watermelon Twist; 220 Haute Pink Twist; 230 Berry Twist and 250 Scarlet Twist.
#215 Watermelon Twist
215 Watermelon Twist is (as the name suggests) a semi-sheer watermelon pink.
#220 Haute Pink Twist
220 Haute Pink Twist is a shockingly bright semi-sheer neon pink.
#230 Berry Twist
230 Berry Twist is an appropriately named sheer berry shade, and is my favourite of the 4 shades I have tried. It’s the perfect wearable, everyday shade, and has become a staple in my handbag.
#250 Scarlet Twist
250 Scarlet Twist is a semi-sheer, orange-based tomato red. Although it’s a beautiful shade, I find it to be the least flattering on my cool-toned skin tone.
The CoverGirl Jumbo Gloss Balms are packaged in a twist-up, crayon style tube. As far as lip crayons go, this is my favourite style of packaging because there is no wasted product.
The CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balms are smooth in texture and slightly waxy. Although they can catch slightly on any dry patches on my lips, I find them to be quite hydrating, and when they wear off my lips feel like they are in better condition than before I applied the balm. Although they are called “Gloss Balms”, they are not especially glossy, leaving my lips with more of a light sheen than any in-your-face glossiness.
Pigmentation/Ease of Application:
These Gloss Balms are designed to be a lightly pigmented, easy to wear, everyday lip colour, and they live up to their purpose beautifully. All 4 colours I have tried are lightly pigmented, making them very wearable and easy to apply on-the-go.
The light pigmentation and moisturising properties of these Gloss Balms mean they are not the longest lasting lip products, wearing off after about 3 hours, however they are so easy to apply without a mirror that I am not worried about reapplying when I’m out and about.
These products were sent to Makeup Utopia for editorial consideration.
